Beside, Ethiopia has been a good example for economic success for the last eight consecutive years with double digit growth rate per annum. In order to maintain the pace of growth and pull the country out of poverty, our government has designed a five years growth and transformation plan. One of the pillars of success of this plan as well as the massive campaign against poverty is the on-going renaissance dam project on Abay (the Blue Nile) river. The planned 5250 mega watts of electricity will feed the potential industrial growth and bring some foreign currency earnings though electric power export to our neighbours. Further the huge water body of about 63 billion cubic meter on the dam will potentially creates huge source of fishery and fishing industry as new economic sector in Ethiopia.
